After careful consideration of all available transportation data, financial implications and student ridership numbers; the Monroeville district administration has decided to move from the proposed dual bus routing system back to a single route system for the 2015-16 school year.
This decision was prompted by the availability and use of new transportation software the district purchased as a result of Ohio Dept. of Ed. Performance Audit recommendation made last spring.
At the time of the audit a transportation study was completed by ODE indicating that cuts could be made in busses and drivers if the district went to a dual bus route system. With the use of the new transportation software allowing district administrators the ability to run numerous transportation scenarios it has been determined that the district can still make most of the recommended cuts while maintaining a single bus route system.
In the opinion of Superintendent Ralph Moore the minimal difference in savings is not worth the issues the dual route system would cause to parents, students and staff. We will still eliminate busses, drivers and transportation of Norwalk Saint Paul students in a single route scenario. This is what we stated we would do in our levy campaign. Without the new software we would not have been able to make this decision. This is the best decision for our district and was made possible by the use of the new software. It is our hope that this decision eases the minds of our parents and staff as they prepare for the start of school.
The start times for High School, Junior High and Elementary students for the 2015-16 School Year will be 7:25am and dismissal for all will be 2:30pm.
