Library Class

Library Class

Library classes are taught on a weekly rotation along with other specials.  Each day has a title and theme: Mindful Monday, Tech Tuesday, Writing Wednesday, Thinking Thursday and Fun Friday.

Mindful Mondays include a read aloud with coordinating activity that typically matches the Character Strong word of the month.  Themes include responsibility, creativity, individuality, respect, and more!
Tech Tuesdays teach computer skills.  Kindergarten and 1st grade learn how to navigate their computers, practice logging in and out, typing and more!  Grades 2-6 practice typing skills and learn how to use Google apps.
Writing Wednesdays are dedicated to honing writing skills for all grade levels.  Kindergarten and 1st grade practice handwriting skills and write sentences based from a prompt from a read aloud.  Grades 2-6 practice writing with a fictional, free write prompt or an opinion topic to write about using RACE writing skills practiced in each classroom.
Thinking Thursdays are designed to help build teamwork and critical thinking skills.  Each week students are given a STEM building challenge where they must work with their group cooperatively and collectively to achieve their goal.  Some weeks students practice coding skills to continue to challenge their problem solving skills in a technological fashion.
Fun Fridays are a way for students creativity, problem solving, and artistic skills to show in an atypical way.  Educational games, toys and kits are out for the students to try during these "sneaky" educational days.
