Classroom Expectations and Procedures

4th Grade General Music

1.      Classroom Procedures:

a.      You should enter the room quietly and have a seat in your assigned seat. If chairs are not set-up you should quietly stand in the spot that your assigned seat usually is until you are given instructions by the teacher.

b.      Unless otherwise instructed, you should come to class with a music folder, a sharpened pencil (no pens), any handouts – packets – or sheet music that Mr. Hayes has distributed to the class. Later in the year students will be required to bring a recorder with them to class.

2.      Grading:

a.      Music class has many components to it:

                                                              i.      Participation – all students will be expected to participate. Participation will be part of your grade.

ii.      Written work – all written work should be completed and turned in by the end of the class period. Sometimes assignments will extend beyond the class period, in such cases the assignment will be due at the next meeting of music class. All work is graded and will count toward you report card.

iii.      Singing and playing of musical instruments will be part of your grade.

b.      Performances:

                                                              i.      3rd & 4th Grade Christmas Program – December 8, 2015. Further details will be distributed at a later date.

ii.      Monroeville Elementary Christmas Sing-A-Long – December 22, 2015 during school. Further details will be distributed at a later date.

3.      Areas:

a.      4th Grade Music will meet in the Band Room. Because of the amount of expensive equipment being stored in this area, 4th Grade students will be limited to what areas of the band room they will be allowed to occupy.
