The Huron County Health Department will be here from 5:30pm - 7:30pm on Tuesday, December 22 in the school cafeteria to administer H1N1 vaccine.  Shots are free and open to anyone.

Huron County Health Department has limited doses of vaccine on hand, so they must first take care of those most at risk from H1N1 flu complications. H1N1 vaccine will be offered first to those in the CDC priority groups. Once those groups have been vaccinated, they will offer H1N1 vaccine to anyone 6 months or older who can have the H1N1 vaccine.
The following people can get vaccine at the H1N1 flu shot clinics. All others will be turned away.
1)    Pregnant women,
2)    Young people 6 months to 24 years old,
3)    Those who live with or care for infants less than 6 months old,
4)    People 64 years old or younger with an underlying medical condition (including asthma,
heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes, or a weakened immune system), and
5)    Healthcare or emergency medical service workers.

I have become extremely fond of Twitter as a way to send out messages and reminders.  What is Twitter?  According to wikipedia, Twitter is a free social-networking and micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read messages known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters displayed on the author's profile page and delivered to the author's subscribers who are known as followers. Senders can restrict delivery to those in their circle of friends or, by default, allow open access. Users can send and receive tweets via the Twitter website, Short Message (SMS) or external applications. While the service itself costs nothing to use, accessing it through SMS may incur phone service fees.  It is very easy to subscribe using a computer or an internet-enabled cell phone.  Messages are then "pushed" out to your device of choice.&a ... Westfield Insurance Teacher of the Month recognizes teachers throughout the state of Ohio for their remarkable acts of selflessness and their willingness to serve their school and their community.

Each month, the Ohio News Network (ONN) will acknowledge one teacher in Ohio who has been nominated by a student, parent or other educator.  The teacher will receive a plaque from Westfield Insurance and ONN and a news vignette will be created about the teacher that will air on ONN.  The winner will be announced the third Monday of every month during the school year.

Nominate a teacher today!

On Tuesday, September 8, at 12 Noon, President Obama is planning to address the nation's schoolchildren.  Due to scheduling conflicts, we will not be able to carry this message live.  We will, however, play President Obama's speech on Wednesday, September 9, during the Grades 7-12 SOAR period in the auditorium.  We will honor any request to not view the speech by any parent or student who objects.  If you are interested, you can view the material that will be presented at the White House website:  http://www.whitehouse.gov/mediaresources/
